Welcome to The Harmony Report and good morning from Fossoway Stables. Each week we bring you stories of progress, renewal and connection, from places near and far, grounded in our core values of NURTURE, HARMONY & SUSTAINABILITY. These are not just headlines but hints of possibility ... showing how people, nature and place can work together to create change.
🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights
1. Business Meets Biodiversity in Europe
At the 2025 European Business and Nature Summit in Helsinki, leaders from industry, finance and policy gathered to explore how businesses can become nature-positive and boost long-term resilience by aligning with the natural world.
Why this matters: When commerce and conservation begin to speak the same language, sustainability moves from “nice to have” to “core strategy”.
2. Nature as Infrastructure: A New Investment Lens
Following the discussions at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Congress, experts are advancing the idea that nature itself can function as critical infrastructure meaning that ecosystems, habitats and biodiversity should be invested in with the same seriousness as roads or grids.
Why this matters: This reframes restoration and habitat protection from loosely-funded add-ons to foundational pieces of a sustainable future.
3. Good News for Our Planet: Milestones in Power & Wildlife
In the first half of 2025, renewables generated more electricity globally than coal for the first time.
The Green turtle has been upgraded from “Endangered” to “Least Concern” by the IUCN following decades of conservation work.
Why this matters: These achievements remind us that progress is visible, not perfect, but real, and they offer momentum for the work we do locally.
🌿 Reflection from Fossoway
Reading these stories this morning, I’m struck by two strong threads ...
Integration matters. Business, infrastructure, nature, ecosystem ... when these domains merge, change becomes sustainable.
Milestones give energy. The shift in global energy supply and wildlife status are sign-posts. They don’t mean we’re “done”, but they mean we’re moving in the right direction.
Here at Fossoway, when we grow our vegetables, maintain hedgerows, welcome children into our outdoor spaces and host community on the land, we are part of that integration. We’re investing in our piece of the infrastructure of nurture. And the milestones? They remind us to pause, acknowledge, and then keep going.
🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway
Could we create a “Nature as Infrastructure” map for Fossoway ... identifying the hedgerows, woodlands, ponds and margins that function like infrastructure for wildlife and community?
Might we launch a local business-&-nature conversation ... invite local entrepreneurs or farmers to discuss how their work and the land’s work overlap (echoing the Helsinki summit)?
Can we select one small metric this term (hedgerow length, pond restoration area, number of species recorded) and share it as a “milestone” for our community as a nod to the global progress we saw this week?
✨ Parting Thought
Change doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it hums ... a turtle population rising, a power shift from coal to wind and sun, businesses realising nature isn’t optional. This week, may we heed the hum, spend a moment in the field, beside the vegetable patch, in the story-session with a child and listen.
Thank you for reading. Let’s keep sowing, restoring and gathering. Here’s to a week of nurture, harmony and sustainability at Fossoway.
With gratitude,
The Harmony Report Team xx
