Introducing Fossoway Folk ... and the wonderful McGoldrick, McCusker, Doyle

Introducing Fossoway Folk: McGoldrick, McCusker & Doyle come to Crook of Devon
There’s something rather special about live music in a village hall .... no enormous stage or great distance between the people playing and the people listening, just a room full of people, some brilliant musicians, a drink in your hand perhaps, and that lovely feeling that you’re part of something happening right there, in that moment.
So ... we’re very excited to introduce something new from Fossoway Stables, drumroll please .... Fossoway Folk.
You might have been to one of John's concerts before which we'd put on as part of his other tours but Fossoway Folk is our new strand of intimate live music events, bringing exceptional folk and traditional musicians to our little corner of Perthshire and we have a rather extraordinary night lined up to begin.
On Sunday 14th February 2027, Michael McGoldrick, (our very own) John McCusker & John Doyle will play Crook of Devon Village Hall, opening both Fossoway Folk and their 2027 tour.
Yes, their entire tour starts here, in Crook of Devon and we’re still rather delighted by that!
So, what is Fossoway Folk?
Over the past few years, we’ve thought a lot about what Fossoway Stables actually is.
There’s the market garden and our veg boxes, there are workshops, kids' clubs, FossoPLAY, events and gatherings. There’s food, nature, creativity and our ongoing attempts to find more reasons for people to come together in real life.
They might look like quite different things on paper, but to us they all belong to the same idea ...
Nurture. Harmony. Sustainability.
AND community sits right at the heart of it.
Fossoway Folk feels like another expression of that.
We want to create occasional nights where wonderful musicians can play in small, characterful spaces and audiences can experience live music in the way we love it most: up close, relaxed, welcoming and without too much fuss.
Not a huge concert series or an attempt to turn Fossoway into something it isn't, just really good music, interesting people and memorable evenings happening here in our own community and if we can occasionally persuade some of the world's finest folk musicians to come and play in our village hall, even better!
Which brings us rather neatly to our first guests ...
McGoldrick, McCusker, Doyle
If you know the folk world, you'll already understand quite what a coup this one is.
Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker and John Doyle are three of the most respected musicians of their generation, each having spent decades at the heart of Irish and Scottish traditional music.
Michael on flute, whistles and uilleann pipes, John McCusker on fiddle and whistles and John Doyle on guitar, bouzouki and vocals.
Individually, their careers have taken them around the world as performers, composers, producers and collaborators, working with some of the biggest names in folk music and far beyond it.
Together, they are something else again.
They've known and played with one another since they were young musicians, and you can hear that shared history when they perform. There's an ease to it ... tunes passed between them almost instinctively, beautiful songs, extraordinary musicianship, stories, humour and just enough unpredictability to make every show different.
It is world-class musicianship without any of the stiffness that phrase might suggest.
Three old friends sitting down and making music together, really, really well.
And the tour begins here
That makes 14th February particularly special ... it's not only Valentine's Day and this won't simply be another date on the McGoldrick, McCusker & Doyle tour. It will be the very first night of their 2027 tour, before they head across the UK, into the Netherlands and later to Ireland.
Their first stop? Crook of Devon Village Hall!
Some of the best musicians in the folk world, beginning a major international run of shows in a village hall in rural Perthshire ... it feels completely in the spirit of what we'd like Fossoway Folk to become.
Big talent, small rooms, warm welcomes and nights that you remember.
Come and be there at the beginning
So, we'd love you to join us for the very first Fossoway Folk.

We have plenty of ideas about where Fossoway Folk might go from here, and there'll be more to share in time but we don't want to overcomplicate it.
For now, we'll start with three extraordinary musicians, our village hall, a room full of people and that feels like a pretty good beginning.
Welcome to Fossoway Folk. 🎻
