The Harmony Report - Issue #30 - 25.05.26

Good morning from Fossoway Stables. As May edges toward summer and everything feels full of movement and growth, this week’s stories remind us that meaningful change is often rooted in long-term thinking ... restoring ecosystems, reshaping industries, and reconnecting communities with the natural systems that sustain them.

🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights

1. Scotland’s seabird recovery efforts showing encouraging signs

Conservation groups working across Scotland’s islands and coastlines have reported early positive signs from ongoing seabird recovery projects, including habitat protection and predator-control programmes supporting species such as puffins, terns and kittiwakes. On islands where invasive predators have been removed, breeding success rates are beginning to improve.

Why this matters: Seabirds are important indicators of ocean health. Supporting their recovery strengthens wider marine ecosystems and protects biodiversity along our coastlines.

2. Paris expands car-free “school streets” initiative

Paris has continued expanding its “school streets” programme, permanently closing more roads around schools to traffic and replacing them with trees, planting and pedestrian-friendly spaces. The initiative is designed to improve air quality, reduce noise pollution and create safer, greener neighbourhoods for children and families.

Why this matters: How we design urban spaces shapes health, wellbeing and connection to nature especially for younger generations.

3. New seaweed farming projects supporting sustainable food and materials

Seaweed farming initiatives are growing across the UK and Northern Europe, with new projects exploring its use in sustainable food production, biodegradable packaging and soil health products. Seaweed requires no fertiliser or freshwater to grow and can help absorb carbon while supporting marine biodiversity.

Why this matters: Seaweed offers a powerful example of working with natural systems to create food and materials with a lighter environmental footprint.

🌿 Reflection from Fossoway

There’s a lovely thread running through this week’s stories ... creating healthier environments for future generations.

🌊 Coastlines where seabirds can thrive again.

🌳 Streets redesigned around children rather than traffic.

🌿 Food and materials grown from the sea rather than extracted from finite resources.

At Fossoway, this feels deeply aligned with the choices we try to make every day ... building spaces that feel calmer, greener and more connected to the rhythms of the natural world.

🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway

  • We might share more about the birdlife returning to the estate through seasonal changes.

  • Could we think about how our own spaces are designed for calm, for children, for connection?

  • What if we explored more seaweed-based products in the garden or kitchen and shared what we learn?

✨ Parting Thought

Some of the most hopeful changes begin with a simple question, What would this place look like if we designed it around life?

This week, may we notice the spaces, systems and choices that help life flourish and add our own small acts of care to the mix.

Thank you for reading. Here’s to a week of nurture, harmony and small, sustainable steps.

With gratitude,

The Harmony Report Team xx
