The Harmony Report - Issue #27 - 20.04.26

Good morning from Fossoway Stables. As April continues and the world feels fully in motion again, this week’s stories are about renewal through creativity ,,, people rethinking how we use land, energy and even materials in ways that feel lighter, more thoughtful, and more in tune with the natural world.

🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights

1. Floating solar farms expanding across Europe

Across countries including the Netherlands and France, floating solar farms are being installed on reservoirs and former industrial water bodies. These systems generate renewable energy while reducing water evaporation and making use of space that might otherwise go unused.

Why this matters: It’s a simple but clever idea ... producing clean energy without taking up valuable agricultural land, while also supporting water conservation.

2. “Edible landscapes” transforming public spaces

Cities and towns across the UK and Europe are beginning to introduce edible planting schemes replacing ornamental plants with fruit trees, herbs and vegetables in public areas. These spaces are designed for community use, encouraging people to harvest, learn and reconnect with food.

Why this matters: It shifts how we think about shared space ... from something we look at, to something we participate in.

3. Mycelium-based packaging gaining real-world use

More companies are beginning to adopt mycelium-based packaging, grown from fungi, as an alternative to plastic and polystyrene. Fully compostable and made from agricultural by-products, it’s part of a growing movement toward regenerative materials.

Why this matters: It shows how innovation can work with natural systems, creating materials that return safely to the earth.

🌿 Reflection from Fossoway

There’s something really exciting about this week’s stories ... they’re not just about protecting what we have, but reimagining what’s possible.

☀️ Energy generated from water surfaces.

🍎 Public spaces becoming places of nourishment.

🍄 Packaging grown rather than manufactured.

At Fossoway, this feels like a natural extension of the work we do, looking at what’s already here and asking: 'how could this be used more thoughtfully?'

🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway

  • Could we introduce more edible planting in shared spaces ... herbs, fruit, or seasonal vegetables for people to enjoy?

  • Might we explore how we reduce or rethink packaging in our own products?

  • What if we looked at underused areas of the land and asked how they could serve a new purpose?

✨ Parting Thought

Sometimes progress isn’t about doing more or less ... it’s about thinking differently.

This week, may we notice the small, creative shifts around us and feel inspired to imagine what else might be possible.

Thank you for reading. Here’s to a week of nurture, harmony and small sustainable steps.

With gratitude,

The Harmony Report Team xx
