The Harmony Report - Issue #26 - 13.04.26

Good morning from Fossoway Stables. As April unfolds and everything feels a little more alive, this week’s stories centre around renewal in unexpected places ... from rivers running cleaner, to food systems becoming more local, to wildlife quietly finding its way back. It’s a reminder that change doesn’t always shout, often it settles in gently.

🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights

1. River water quality improvements recorded across parts of Europe

Recent environmental monitoring reports show measurable improvements in river water quality in several European regions, thanks to tighter pollution controls, better wastewater management and restoration efforts. In some areas, aquatic life is beginning to return after years of decline.

Why this matters: Clean rivers support biodiversity, agriculture and human health. Improvements here signal that coordinated environmental action can deliver real results.

2. Local food networks strengthening regional resilience

Across the UK and Europe, local food networks including farmers’ markets, veg box schemes and cooperative growing projects, are continuing to grow, helping shorten supply chains and connect people more directly with where their food comes from.

Why this matters: Local food systems build resilience, reduce food miles and strengthen relationships between growers and communities.

3. Wildlife crossings helping species move safely through landscapes

More countries are investing in wildlife crossings ... bridges and tunnels that allow animals to safely cross roads and railways. These structures are helping reconnect fragmented habitats and reduce animal mortality, particularly for mammals like deer, badgers and amphibians.

Why this matters: As landscapes become more developed, connectivity becomes essential. Wildlife crossings are a simple but powerful way to support biodiversity.

🌿 Reflection from Fossoway

There’s a bit of a theme running through this week’s stories ... making space.

🌊 Space for rivers to recover.

🥕 Space for local food systems to thrive.

🦌 Space for wildlife to move safely through the land.

At Fossoway, this feels deeply familiar. So much of what we do is about creating space in the soil, in the landscape, in people’s lives for things to grow, return and reconnect.

🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway

  • We might share how water moves through the land here and how we care for it.

  • Could we highlight the journey of our veg boxes from soil to table and the relationships behind them?

  • What if we mapped the “wild corridors” on the estate ... the spaces where wildlife moves freely?

✨ Parting Thought

Sometimes the most meaningful change isn’t about adding more, it’s about making space for what’s already trying to return.

This week, may we notice where space is being made and where we might gently create more of it.

Thank you for reading. Here’s to a week of nurture, harmony and small, sustainable steps.

With gratitude,

The Harmony Report Team xx
