WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK
It’s been another busy week work-wise and with some staff absence, I’ve had to do more on the yard than I’d planned for which has meant I’ve been chasing my tail with everything else. I have a bit of a feeling at the moment that there are so many plates spinning and I’m not really on top of anything which makes me feel a bit uneasy.
We’re working to tight deadlines around opening the Potting Shed Farm Shop and Cafe, organising our first few events here, planning the events we’ll be attending as Fossoway Stables, planning the launch of a new YouTube series charting our journey, launching more Fossoway at Home products and the online shop. It feels like a lot all at the one time and I’ll need to remember to plan better in the future and spread projects out throughout the year.
We had a day of sunshine this week though which was very welcome and gave us all a bit of a much-needed boost.
Last weekend, I was back through in Glasgow with John at Celtic Connections which was lots of fun. He’s away now on tour with Transatlantic Sessions and such a lovely, talented bunch of people. I got to join the band (kinda!) with my own pass but good news for everyone involved, I never got given an instrument!
Oh, and on a whim I decided to cut myself a fringe again. I do this every few years and normally immediately regret it but so far I’m into it. I figure it’s a fringe or botox and I’m not really into the needles so a fringe it is! Some patterns I’m destined to repeat!
Everyone seems to be sick at the moment and as I write this, I’m recovering from a horrible fever that has had me stuck in bed all day - another day when I haven’t got any work done! Ah well, I’ll catch up.
This next week continues on the busy theme with a quick trip to London, a wee half term break with the kids and all the work of course!
A FEW THINGS I’VE BEEN LOVING (and think you might to …)
SLEEP CHARTS - I got an apple watch a wee while ago and since then I’ve become obsessed with checking out how well I’ve slept each morning. I’m generally quite good at sleeping but don’t always get as much as I’d like. I did get a 10 hours 43 mins night recently though - that was a good night!
DOWNTON ABBEY - I was SO late to the party with Downton but fell in love with it probably around this time last year. I got really into it and then Matthew died and I couldn’t quite get over that. Anyway, this week I felt I was ready to keep watching and I’m hooked again!
FANCY-PANTS BREAKFAST - I take breakfast pretty seriously and my current favourite is toasted sourdough lathered in my favourite olive oil, chopped avocado, chilli flakes, lemon juice and rocket. So yummy!
