Looking for an after school club in Kinross-shire where children can spend time outdoors, care for animals, and learn about nature in a hands-on way?
Fossoway Farmyard Club at Fossoway Stables, Crook of Devon, is a weekly, nature-based after school club for children aged P1–P7. Set on a working smallholding, it offers a unique opportunity for children to connect with animals, grow their own food, and enjoy fresh air and outdoor play each week.
Our next 8-week block runs from 11th May to 29th June, with sessions every Monday from 3:30–5:00pm.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There’s a moment, every year, when it all begins again ... you notice it quietly at first, the evenings stretch a little longer, the air softens and the ground, which felt so still through winter, begins to move again.
Out in the yard, the hens are a little busier and a little noisier, the ponies start to shed their winter coats in great tufts, as if even they’re ready to step into something lighter and in the garden, there are those first small, hopeful signs of growth, just enough to remind you that something is happening beneath the surface.
It’s always around this time that we start to think about the Fossoway Farmyard children returning ... about muddy boots lined up at the door, little hands scattering feed, or gripping a lead rope with determination! The rhythm of those Monday afternoons is simple, steady, and full of small moments that seem to matter more than they should.
And so, it feels like the right time to say …
Fossoway Farmyard Club is returning this May.
🐓 A Different Kind of After School
Farmyard Club has never been about keeping children busy ... it’s about giving them something real to be part of. A place where they can care for animals and understand what that really means not just the brushing and feeding, but the responsibility, the patience and the noticing. A place where they can grow food and see it change week by week, where they can be outdoors, in all weathers, learning without really realising they’re learning at all.
There’s no rush here and no pressure to perform, just a gentle structure to the afternoon ... animals to care for, small jobs to do, space to play, to explore and to be. Over time, something shifts, confidence grows, friendships form and a sense of belonging takes root.
🌱 The New Season
This next block will run for eight weeks through late spring and early summer ... one of the most beautiful times to be here at Fossoway. The market garden will be waking up properly, the animals settled into the season, and the farmyard full of life again!
Children can expect muddy hands, rosy cheeks, and that particular kind of tiredness that only comes from being outdoors and fully absorbed in something.

💚 A Small Invitation
We keep the group small, intentionally, because this isn’t about scale, it’s about creating something that feels calm, connected, and genuinely enjoyable for the children who come along each week.
If this sounds like something your child would love, a little pocket of fresh air, animals, and slow, seasonal living, we’d love to welcome you. Please email enquiries@fossowaystables.com to secure your space.
There’s something really special about seeing children settle into the rhythm of the farmyard, not in a big, obvious way but in the gentle confidence of knowing what to do, where to go, and how to be.
And every year, it begins again. 🌿
