There’s something about a clear-out that feels quietly satisfying isn't there?

Not the rushed, everything-in-a-bin-bag frenzy, but the slower sort where things are lifted down, dusted off, remembered for a moment… and then gently passed on.

Over the past few months here at Fossoway Stables, we’ve been doing exactly that. Opening cupboards, peering into corners of the barn, and uncovering all sorts of things we’d quite forgotten we had. Some useful, some sentimental and some slightly baffling!

And as the piles began to grow, it felt like a shame to simply tuck it all away again.

So instead, we’re opening the barn doors.

On Sunday 12th April (10am–4pm), we’re hosting a Big Barn Sale ... a chance to give these things a second life, and to welcome people into the space in a relaxed, unhurried way.

A Sunday wander, Fossoway-style

This isn’t a polished market or a perfectly curated sale ... it’s something a wee bit softer than that ... a wander through the barn, a rummage through books ands a moment of “oh, that’s quite lovely actually.”

There’ll be a real mix of things on offer - furniture, soft furnishings, homeware, books, toys, garden bits and pieces. A collection of things that builds up over time, each item with its own little story.

We’ve tried to

organise things into gentle sections so it’s easy to browse, but there’s still plenty of scope for discovery which, if we’re honest, is half the fun.

More than just a sale

At its heart, this is less about selling things and more about creating a moment.

We’ll have tea, coffee and some home baking on the go, so you can take your time, warm up, and maybe stay a little longer than you planned.

There’s something a little special about these slower, informal gatherings ... no pressure, or rush, just people coming together, having a chat, and enjoying being somewhere a little different on a Sunday.

If you’ve been to Fossoway before, you’ll know the feeling, and if you haven’t, this is a lovely way to get a small glimpse into life here.

An open invitation

We really hope this feels like something you can just drop into. Come for ten minutes or stay for an hour, pop by on your own or bring a friend, have a browse, a cup of something warm, and see what you might find. There’s no expectation to buy anything, just a simple invitation to come along and be part of it.

There’s a feeling of joy in passing things on and in knowing that something you once used or loved might find its place somewhere new. If, along the way, it brings a few people together for a wander, a chat and a cup of coffee in the barn … then that feels like a good Sunday to us!
