Good morning from Fossoway. Each week we gather stories of growth, connection and renewal from here and around the world, through the lens of our values ... NURTURE, HARMONY, and SUSTAINABILITY. This week’s selection asks us ... how do institutions, communities and nature adapt when change is not optional?
🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights
1. UK Government Relaunches Carbon-Budget-Delivery Plan
The UK unveiled a refreshed “carbon budget delivery plan” to get back on track with its net-zero targets, linking clean energy policy with household cost savings and economic opportunity.
Why it matters: Change at the highest level is essential but the connection to everyday life (homes, jobs, community) means it also becomes meaningful.
2. Education For Climate: A Global Dialogue On Future Development
A global policy dialogue reflected on eight decades of sustainable development and emphasised inclusive education, decent work, and international cooperation as key to future growth.
Why it matters: Learning isn’t just about facts, it’s about hope, shared purpose and equipping people with the tools to act.
3. Big Infrastructure + Biodiversity: The Case of Sizewell C
The first sustainability report from the Sizewell C nuclear-power project shows it is on track to increase local biodiversity by 19 %, deliver 1,500 apprenticeships, and direct £2.8 billion to British suppliers.
Why it matters: Infrastructure often feels distant from nature but here is an example where the two are explicitly connected.
4. Green Skills in the Making: RDCS Scaling Education & Digital Programmes
At the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability in east London, green and digital programmes rose dramatically in participation... 283 learners in the first half of 2025 compared to 114 for all of 2024.
Why it matters: Skills development is at the heart of sustainable futures and growth in participation signals momentum.
🌿 Reflection from Fossoway
These stories all link back to a simple truth ... sustainability is as much about people and place as it is about technology or policy.
We see large-scale shifts (carbon budgets, infrastructure) and grassroots shifts (skills, education).
We are reminded that the long game requires institutions, communities and individual actions aligned.
At Fossoway, when we tend our woodland, host small group events, teach youngsters about nature, we are weaving into that larger tapestry.
🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway
Might we map our own “infrastructure of nurture” ... hedgerows, ponds, wild patches ... and consider how each acts for biodiversity and community?
Could we partner with a local education body to scale our “garden to plate” or nature-skills programmes, echoing the RDCS growth story?
What if we sent a short update to our community sharing one “small metric” we’ll track this term (e.g., number of student visits, new hedgerow length) aligning with the infrastructure story at Sizewell C?
✨ Parting Thought
Sometimes the loudest change happens in quiet ways: a student taking part in a new course, a wetland restored as part of a power-plant project, a government linking clean energy to cost savings for households. This week, may we recognise the everyday ripples of progress here at home, in our community, in our own patch of land.
Thank you for reading, and for being part of this journey. Here’s to a week of nurture, harmony and sustainable steps.
With gratitude,
The Harmony Report Team xx
