Good Morning from Fossoway Stables. As the week begins, here’s our second edition of good news from around the world ... stories of hope, care, regeneration, and community, filtered through our values of NURTURE, HARMONY & SUSTAINABILITY.
May these stories stir a thought, a spark, or a gentle push in your own corner of life.
🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights
1. Universities Unite to Embed Climate Action in Education
The UCL Institute of Education is leading a global network of 16 universities across seven countries to strengthen climate action within higher education ... in curriculum, governance, community engagement, and collaboration. This is more than research, it’s about transforming how institutions see their role in the climate & nature emergency.
2. UK Unison Branches Launch Environmental Officers Network
Across the UK, branch environmental officers came together for an inaugural seminar. The gathering enabled them to build connections, share tools, and plan for a “Year of Green Activity 2026.” It’s a reminder that change often needs structure ... roles, networks, accountability ... not just ideas.
3. Local Residents Tackle Climate Together in Haringey
In London’s Haringey borough, dozens of residents gathered for a Climate Partnership meeting, collaborating with council and local groups to explore carbon projects, food growing, and community resilience. They centred food, not just as nourishment, but as a way to reconnect people with place.
4. Schools Face Heat Challenges - But Adaptation Ramps Up
Around 80,000 schools from 87 different countries now commit to “heat-ready” adaptations ... planting shade trees, upgrading roofs, adding passive cooling design, or using solar-powered systems. Climate change isn’t just an environmental issue, it’s affecting how, where, and even whether children can learn.
🌿 Reflection from Fossoway
As I read through these stories, a few threads tugged at us ...
Institutional shifts are rising. From universities to unions to local councils, deeper structures are realising they must evolve, not just individuals.
Collaboration is central. None of these stories stand alone ... people are bridging roles (educators, citizens, institutions) and making change possible together.
Resilience is layered. Whether it’s making schools cooler or planting trees for shade, adaptation happens at many scales from design choices to policy. At Fossoway, when we plant, teach, build, or host, we are part of that layered resilience. Every little step is a stitch in the broader tapestry.
🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway
We might invite a local school or university to explore climate-resilient design ... shade planting, habitat corridors or natural shelter development.
Could we host a gathering of environmental “officers” from neighbouring groups amplifying local green networks?
What if we designed a “reading corner in nature” or open-air classroom and offer it to local primary schools to reconnect learners to the elements?
✨ Parting Thought
In a world of many challenges, it’s easy to feel small. But what if “small” is exactly where change begins ... the shade tree planted today, the conversation held this week, the collaborative role just accepted.
Thank you for reading, and for being part of this journey toward nurture, harmony, and sustainability. May your week brim with small signs of hope.
With gratitude from Fossoway,The Harmony Report Team xx
