Good morning from Fossoway Stables. As another week begins, we’re once again gathering stories of hopeful momentum from around the world. This week’s curated highlights show that progress, whether in energy systems, nature protection, or climate-positive investment, continues even when headlines focus elsewhere.
🌍 This Week’s Curated Highlights
1. Clean energy now accounts for over 40 % of the world’s electricity
In 2024, renewable energy sources like solar and wind generated more than 40 % of global electricity, driven largely by record growth in solar generation and large increases in renewable capacity. This shift is a clear sign that the world is turning the corner on its energy mix.
Why this matters: Getting to 40 % is more than a statistic, it’s a milestone that shows cleaner power is not just possible, it’s happening now.
2. A $100 million worldwide programme now accelerating climate + nature action
The Net-Zero Nature-Positive Accelerator Integrated Programme, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) with support from global partners, is mobilising multi-sector action to restore land, curb emissions and protect biodiversity across countries through integrated climate and nature solutions.
Why this matters: This isn’t a single project, it’s a systemic shift, aligning finance and policy to protect ecosystems at scale and help countries build resilience.
3. Urban environments begin embedding sustainability into large-scale redevelopment
In India, the Government of Maharashtra and partners are embedding green building standards and low-carbon materials into major urban renewal efforts spanning hundreds of hectares, a model showing how cities can align growth with nature-positive planning.
Why this matters: Cities are where many people live, work and learn bringing sustainability into the way they’re built and expanded creates healthy spaces for people and nature.
🌿 Reflection from Fossoway
This week’s stories remind us that progress is most durable when it’s both broad and deep.
Clean energy at 40 % shows that transitions can happen at scale when innovation, investment and policy align.
The Net-Zero Nature-Positive programme points to a future where climate action and ecosystem restoration are inseparable.
Urban sustainability highlights the choices cities, like communities, make when they see growth as stewardship, not extraction.
Here at Fossoway, much of our work feels quiet and local ... caring for soil, tending woodland edges, inspiring children with outdoor learning. But these stories remind us that local and global progress are woven together. The energy we put into this land, now and in small steps over time, contributes to a bigger tapestry of care and resilience.
🌱 How This Could Ripple at Fossoway
Could we highlight one renewable energy inspiration here ... maybe a small onsite step toward greener power showing how community and place connect to the bigger shift?
Might we share with our visitors a simple explanation of nature-positive action and what it might look like in a garden or hedgerow at Fossoway?
What if we invited local friends or families to notice how urban design around them, from buildings to green spaces, affects wellbeing and local nature?
✨ Parting Thought
At a glance, sustainability can seem vast, “global electricity mixes,” “world programmes,” “city redevelopment.” But each of these is a mosaic of small decisions and commitments. Just like the work here at Fossoway, large changes ripple outward from humble beginnings.
Thank you for reading. Here’s to a week of nurture, harmony and sustainable steps wherever you are.
With gratitude,
The Harmony Report Team xx
